The way we teach our preschool curriculum here at Tiny Turtles Preschool of Jupiter centers around the idea of Conscious Discipline. We discussed the importance of Conscious Discipline in our previous blog, and today we will take an in-depth look at how the Creative Curriculum and Conscious Discipline work hand-in-hand.

Conscious Discipline is structured around four key elements that make up the “Success Pyramid.”

• Brain
• Safety
• Connection
• Problem-Solving

Problem-Solving is one of the most important pieces of the puzzle because it requires social and emotional learning in order to fully understand a problem and then find a solution.

There are seven skills of discipline which make up the full problem-solving skill set.

• Composure
• Encouragement
• Assertiveness
• Choices
• Empathy
• Positive Intent
• Consequences

Many adults struggle to use these skills fully. It is not without great challenge that our preschool students are able to learn these important life skills. Watching children grow and learn is a wonderful treasure that we are fortunate to experience each day. One of the specialties your children receive by attending Tiny Turtles is a state-of-the-art curriculum program that specifically targets different age groups. Young children are “brain builders” and learn at different paces; therefore, it’s essential to meet those learning paces while continuing to provide a challenge.

Starting in infancy, we focus strongly on physical, language, and emotional development. These are very basic yet important foundations for a successful future. Don’t worry – we aren’t demanding that infants master these subjects, but it is our role as educators to ensure we are doing our best to properly teach things such as to crawl, responding to his or her name, and to respond with pleasure at the sight of family. And, as always, we teach these skills by example through Conscious Discipline.
