The Tiny Turtles First Day of Preschool Checklist

You’ve had it circled on your calendar for months and now it’s just a few weeks away. Yes, we’re talking about the first day of preschool. As a parent, you would do anything to ensure your little one begins their educational journey on a high note.

It all starts with being prepared. That said, here are some things to pack for your child’s first day of preschool:

Backpack

Just because there might not be a bunch of heavy textbooks in preschool doesn’t mean your child can’t benefit from having a backpack. Your preschooler’s backpack will contain the day’s necessities (more on those in a bit), school projects, and any parent notices. While you certainly don’t have to purchase the most expensive backpack, encourage your child to pick one that appeals to them.

Water bottle

Between learning, acclimating to a new environment, and making friends, your child will need to stay hydrated throughout the day. That’s why we suggest packing a spill-proof water bottle they can easily open on their own. Just remind them to not let the water bottle become a distraction.

Extra set of clothes

This will undoubtedly be a stressful day for you and your preschooler. Whether they’re unable to make it to the restroom in time or spill something on their clothes and need to change, accidents happen. Do yourself and the school staff a favor and have an extra set of clothes available in their backpack.

Healthy lunch and snacks

A healthy lunch often gets forgotten amidst the first-day-of-school chaos. Rather than chance running out of time in the morning, prepare your kiddo’s midday meal the night before and save yourself a few minutes. An example of a nutritious lunch might consist of a sandwich, an apple, baby carrots, and yogurt for either a snack or dessert.

Sunscreen

It’s currently 92 degrees in Jupiter as we write this post. Though the temperature should drop slightly over the coming weeks and months, the reality is that the first day at Tiny Turtles Preschool of Jupiter will be hot. Keep your child’s skin protected and send them with a high-SPF sunscreen in their backpack.

Medication

Does your child take daily medication? Do they have any known allergies? If you answered yes to either of these questions, get in touch with the school’s administrative staff prior to the first day.
